The motto that the Children's Academy Group of Schools has always striven for — " Quality Education at an Affordable Price " - has led to the expansion of the Academy from being a single school building to being an institution having three acclaimed branches today.
One of these branches is at Ashok Nagar, Kandivali (East). It followed the success of the mother institution at Malad (East). Under the capable guidance of its founder, Mr. V. V. Bhat, the Malad school, which was founded in 1970, blossomed and then soon flourished. Word of the quality education provided here spread to neighbouring localities and the Academy was met with a demand from Kandivali to start a branch of the school in the proximity. Catering to the overwhelming demand, Children’s Academy was opened at Atmaram Sawant Marg, Kandivali (East) in 1990.
This five-storied school, which was but a fledgling in the 90s, now houses 3,500 students from kindergarten to the Standard X. Just like the mother institution, it also finds itself regularly on 'best school' lists at citywide and even nationwide levels. In 2012 the school added a feather in its cap by securing affiliation of the prestigious ICSE board.
The reason for the rapid success achieved by this branch of Children's Academy is because of the same strategies followed across the schools — dedicated efforts at achieving quality at all levels. The school consistently achieves 100% results at the SSC Board Examinations. Not just that, every year there are 85 to 90% students who score First Class and Distinction at this all-important examination.
Apart from that, students have added several feathers to the overfull cap of the school by bringing in trophies and awards at various competitions hosted by eminent organisations. Some of the recent accolades have been won by our students at the following events:-
We have also brought home Best School trophies for co-curricular competitions and activities conducted by the Ram Krishna Math, Prem Puri Ashram and Bombay Arts and Sports.
The school's Nature Club and Science Club initiatives have been appreciated time and again at various forums and by various organisations.
Sport is a regular area of distinction for Children's Academy, Ashok Nagar. Our students have excelled and won numerous trophies in athletics, volleyball and martial arts such as Karate and Tae Kwon Do. When reputed organisations like DSO, MSSA, Prabodhan Krida Bhavan, Goregaon Sports Club, Poinsur Gymkhana, etc. organise their interschool sporting events, the name of Children's Academy, Ashok Nagar can be heard all over the place. Our display cases are brimming with the trophies won from these organisations.
The very art of imparting education has changed with the times and we stay abreast with the leaps of technology. Our classrooms are equipped with multimedia projectors and computers. We have laboratories for science and computer experiments. Fast broadband connections keep our students attuned to the world even when they are within the physical confines of their computer laboratories.
Even at the pre-primary and primary level, we expose our students to the Waterford software, which makes it easier for them to learn English, Mathematics and Science. Our school library has several popular titles that could veer any curious young mind in the right direction.
Other activities at the school include training in classical singing, acting, dancing (ranging from the classical Bharatanatyam to the modern western dance styles), Yoga and skating. We have clubs such as the Literature Club, the Nature Club, the Science Club and the Dramatics Club, where students can give vent to their specific passions.
To take care of special needs, we have an in-house counseling centre at the school where HRD specialists and remedial teachers look into the requirements of students with concerns such as dyslexia, ADHD and others.
Variety is the spice of life. Each day at Children's Academy, Ashok Nagar is different. To break the monotony of routine teaching practices, we observe special days such as the Sports Day, the Annual Day, the Grandparent's Day, etc. We observe Hindi Divas and Marathi Divas with reverence. We display our patriotic fervor on days of national importance such as the Independence Day and the Republic Day.
To provide more students with our well-planned and dedicated methods of teaching, our bus services bring in students from Kandivali (East) as well as Kandivali (West).
We have come so far, and yet we feel we have a long path ahead. That, and the love of our patrons, is what keeps us going.
